The Festival of Colours will take place on Sunday 1st March from 11am-4pm at the park near the town centre.

The event is being organised by the Swindon Hindu Temple.

Holi is one of the most significant festivals in Hindu culture. It celebrates the arrival of spring and represents renewal, unity and the triumph of good over evil.

Rooted in ancient mythology, the festival marks the victory of virtue over malice. It is also linked to the stories of Krishna and Radha and the tradition of throwing coloured powders.

Communities traditionally gather to throw bright powders and water, while enjoying music, dancing and festive food.

Around 2.5% of Swindon residents identify as Hindu. For many, Holi carries both cultural and religious meaning.

Organisers have planned a range of activities for families and visitors of all ages.

These include:

* Certified organic colour powders for colour throwing
* Live music from DJ Karty and DJ TLA
* A performance by the Edu Drummer Boy band
* Event T-shirts and a selfie point
* Food and drink stalls

Entry will be based on a recommended community donation to help cover event costs.

On the day prices are £9 for adults and £4 for children.

The festival is open to all, regardless of background, and aims to promote community spirit and shared celebration.
