Guests at Chiseldon Memory Café were treated to sandwiches, cream teas and live music on Friday 4 September, courtesy of local businesswoman Clair Shail.
Clair, who owns Out of the Box Catering, provides two parties for the café each year in memory of her late father, who previously attended the monthly gatherings.
The celebration featured live performances from musicians who volunteered their time, entertaining guests with songs made famous by Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash.
Established in 2019, Chiseldon Memory Café offers a friendly and informal setting for people living with dementia, their carers and residents who may be experiencing loneliness.
The free sessions give visitors an opportunity to meet new people, enjoy conversation and take part in activities, including singing and dancing.
A spokesperson for the Memory Café said:
“The café is about bringing people together in a friendly and relaxed setting. There is always plenty of music, conversation and laughter, and our volunteers work incredibly hard to make every gathering special.
“We are enormously grateful to Clair and Out of the Box Catering for providing such a wonderful summer party. Her generosity, in memory of her father, means a great deal to everyone involved with the café.”
The café is supported by Chiseldon parish councillors Jenny Jefferies and Paul Sunners, alongside the Reverend Canon Roger Powell, Rector of Holy Cross.
Organisers say the gatherings play an important role in helping local people build friendships and enjoy companionship in a supportive environment.
Chiseldon Memory Café meets on the first Friday of every month at Holy Cross Church Hall in Chiseldon.
Anyone living in the village or surrounding communities is welcome to attend, with no charge for admission.
