Woman sadly dies following incident on Beechcroft Road

A woman has this evening 23 February, died following an accident on Beechcroft Road, Stratton.

The 32-year-old woman was been pronounced dead at the scene after a collision, which involved a white road maintenance vehicle.

This very sad incident reportedly happened around 4.30pm today near the brewery at the crossroads at Hyde Road.

Next of kin have been informed and formal identification will take place in due course.

A witness to the incident said: “A woman with a pushchair has been run over by a road sweeper, unfortunately I witnessed it… really hope she’s ok.

The road remains closed, and drivers are asked to find an alternative route whilst investigations are carried out into this incident.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses to this road traffic collision on Beechcroft Road in Swindon.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or was in the area at the time, is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
