The event will take place from Thursday 15th October to Sunday 18th October, bringing international street food, artisan products and independent traders to the town centre.
Visitors will be able to sample a wide variety of dishes, including Korean corn dogs, Burmese cuisine, Mexican burritos, Greek souvlaki and spanakopita.
Other options will include Caribbean specialities, German bratwurst, Philippine dishes and Asian street food, alongside Hungarian favourites such as chimney cakes and langos.
Those looking for something sweet can enjoy baklava, homemade fudge and freshly made crepes, while olives and barista coffee will also be available.
Beyond the food stalls, independent traders will be selling products including silver jewellery and women’s fashion.
The market is part of wider efforts to bring more visitors into Swindon town centre and encourage them to spend time and money with local businesses.
Councillor Matthew Vallender, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Planning and Regeneration, said:
“The Continental Market is a fantastic addition to the town centre, bringing together an incredible variety of international food, independent traders and unique products.
“Events such as these help create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, attract visitors and support our local businesses. I would encourage residents to come along, explore the stalls and enjoy everything the market has to offer.”
The event also supports plans for a proposed Business Improvement District (BID), which would see businesses work together to improve the town centre and increase footfall.
Laura James, Chair of the Swindon Shadow BID, said:
“We want to create more reasons for people to come into the town centre with the new BID. We want them to stay longer and discover what’s here and events like the Continental Market are an important part of that.
“Bringing something different into the town centre creates energy, increases footfall and, importantly, gives our existing businesses the opportunity to benefit from more people being in the area.
“This is exactly the kind of activity we want to build on, with a regular programme of events and experiences that helps make Swindon town centre feel busy, welcoming and worth visiting.”
The Continental Market will be followed by Swindon’s Festive Market, which is scheduled to run from Thursday 26th November until Tuesday 1st December.
That event will feature Christmas gifts, seasonal food, shopping and entertainment.
The Continental Market will be open daily between Thursday 15th October and Sunday 18th October.
