What Forms of Communication Can Businesses Not Survive Without?

In this day and age, it’s no longer about being connected via desk phones and the internet. For a business to survive and keep growing, they rely on a number of different strands of communication and methods to keep them up-to-date with competition and modern methodologies. Here’s a brief overview of communication methods that no business should go without.

Client visits

Visiting clients is a key way to ensure your business will retain part of its income. Relationships with clients should be nurtured and maintained, no matter how difficult they may potentially be. Doing work visits and ensuring regular conference calls will help give Account Managers an accurate sense of what is on the client’s mind and how your business can remedy it. If these relationships aren’t maintained, you could risk the client hunting elsewhere for a new business partner.

Information Technology

If your server malfunctions in the morning and can’t be fixed until the next day, that means you’ll be operating without business for a full 24hrs. While nowadays it’s easier to work from home, large and small businesses need IT to full function on a day-to-day business and function across their full network. If you’re a small business, then finding bespoke IT support packages can be a great way of finding technical assistance that’s suited to your business model. Maintaining your IT infrastructure is just as important as maintaining your finances – you should always have some form of backup in case the worst happens.

Marketing

Nowadays, you’ll see very few businesses that don’t make use of marketing in some way or another. Marketing now only ensures that your business gets seen, but it also helps to maintain healthy competition. However, while most businesses use some form of marketing strategy, not all of them are using one that is up-to-date and relevant. Here are some methods that all modern businesses should be using:

  • Search Engine Optimisation on a modern, fully-functioning website.
  • Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to reach both customers and B2B clients – and maybe Instagram if it is appropriate for their audience.
  • Blogs and ads that are on-brand and based on research around a well-researched demographic.

Networking

Too many employees rely on conferences and emails to reach out to new business partners and clients. Attending corporate events and entering industry awards opens up chances for businesses to connect with potential customers and partners. It’s also advised that you nurture and develop the connections you make. Rather than just handing them your business card and sending the odd email once a year, it’s a good idea to meet for coffee and develop a personal relationship with any connections you make.

Communication is not just a means of making a virtual or physical connection with others. Communication is about how you present your business, how you reach out to other businesses and ultimately the means by which you do so. Protecting your communication methods and revising them to keep up with contemporary methods are essential to any modern-day business plan.
