Cole Easdon, an independent civil engineering consultancy founded in 1986, marked its 40th anniversary by bringing together staff, clients and industry partners for a summer celebration, recognising the relationships that have helped the business grow from a small local office into a nationally respected consultancy.
Despite working on projects across the UK, the company has remained firmly rooted in Swindon throughout its history. Established by Peter Cole and John Easdon from a small office on Milton Road, the business expanded rapidly before moving to larger premises on Bath Road, returning to Milton Road in 1988 and eventually relocating to its current headquarters at Edison Park in Dorcan in 2003. A second office in Bristol opened in 2009.
Today, Cole Easdon provides expertise in water management, transport planning and infrastructure design, supporting projects ranging from individual homes to major residential, commercial, education and leisure developments.
Over the past 40 years, the consultancy has contributed to schemes across the country, including transport planning work for two venues used during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Closer to home, the company has also played a role in a number of Swindon developments, including the recently completed Padel Nova facility on Rivermead Drive.
Managing Director Brett Farmery, who has been with the company for more than 23 years, said the milestone reflected the loyalty of the people behind the business. He said:
“Having been with Cole Easdon for over 23 years, I’m very proud to be at the helm celebrating this amazing milestone.
“It is thanks to our loyal staff, clients and fellow consultants, many of whom have been with us for over two decades, that we are here today, a heartfelt thank you from me to them all.
“Over those 40 years, we’ve covered the civil engineering design input for a single dwelling, through to preparing transport planning reports to support two London 2012 Olympic venues, and everything in between.
“Whilst we work all over the country, local projects like the recent Padel Nova development on Rivermead Drive often offer the greatest reward. We’re proud to be an independent private limited company and will remain that way. I’ll blink, and we’ll be celebrating our 50th.”
The anniversary celebration at Lydiard Park reflected the company’s strong ties to Swindon, with many long-standing local clients joining staff to celebrate the landmark occasion.
Forty years after opening its doors, Cole Easdon continues to grow while remaining committed to its Swindon roots, serving clients nationwide from the town where the business began.
