5 Tips On Acing Your First Interview

The first step in the hiring process for most businesses is the initial or first interview.

5 tips to ace your first interview

This is done so that employers would know who are the most qualified for the job by sifting through a couple to a dozen of applicants and analyse the right fit.

Typically, first interviews are a lot less thorough than the succeeding ones, but that is not to say that applicants should take it easy.

Local recruitment company, Trak Employment Solutions have provided us with their top 5 tips on acing your first interview.

1) Take it seriously

Most people do not worry about initial interviews because of the common mindset that it will be quick and easy.

However, when trying to get a job, it is important to put your best foot forward all the time. Always do your best and be professional about it.

2) Do your research

Research about the company and the position you are applying for by reviewing the job listing and the history of the company.

This will help you answer questions related to the job you are applying for and the company that you want to work in and will also show the interviewer that you are prepared and serious about getting the job.

3) Practice your answers

Whether you are having your interview done over the phone, in-person or through video chat, always make sure that you come off as polished and professional as you can.

4) Show your enthusiasm

Put an emphasis on your enthusiasm. Even at this early stage of your application process, it is important that you make yourself stand out.

At this point, the employer is still in the process of screening a number of candidates, and what you want to do is secure a spot for the next step.

By showing that you are passionate and interested in the job, there is a higher chance for you to get noticed.

5) Follow up

After having your first interview, show appreciation to the interviewer by sending a thank you letter.

This way they will know that you value the time spent talking or meeting with them.

Remember to mention specific things that happened during the interview to make sure that they remember you.
