Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery at William Hill bookmakers on Shearwood Road, Peatmoor, Swindon.

Around 12.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 22 February 2017) a man wearing dark clothing with the hood up and his face covered entered the shop and threatened staff, demanding they hand over money.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the staff they were able to lock themselves in a safe area of the shop and the suspect left empty handed.

A CCTV still is above of a man Wiltshire Police would like to speak to in relation to this offence. There is no moving CCTV available at this time.

Det Sgt Graham McLaughlin said: “The investigating team would really like to hear from anyone in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.

Also, we’d like to hear from anyone with a dash-cam fitted to their car and who was driving through that area at that time – you may have picked up some vital evidence; please check and let us know.”

If anyone has information relating to the incident please contact Swindon CID on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
