The supermarket giant is looking for more local organisations to join its food donation scheme, which redistributes surplus stock to people in need.
Aldi works with community giving platform Neighbourly to connect charities with nearby stores, allowing them to collect food that would otherwise go to waste.
The retailer has already donated more than 15 million meals across the UK in 2026 through its year-round partnership.
With Aldi stores closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, the company is hoping to distribute more surplus food to community organisations over the festive period.
Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, said:
“At Christmas, so many local charities, food banks and community groups are working harder than ever to support people in their area, and we want to make sure good food gets to those who need it most.
“If customers know a brilliant local group that could benefit, we’d encourage them to spread the word and ask them to get in touch with Neighbourly, so we can get even more surplus food into local communities this festive season.”
The scheme is designed to tackle food waste while supporting vulnerable households during the winter months, when demand for help can increase.
Organisations taking part are paired with local Aldi stores and can collect surplus food to distribute to people within their communities.
Steve Butterworth, Chief Executive Officer at Neighbourly, said:
“At Neighbourly, we see first-hand how important local food donations can be for the charities and community groups supporting people through winter.
“We’d encourage any local good causes that could benefit to get in touch, so we can connect them with nearby Aldi stores and help good food reach people in their communities.”
Residents are also encouraged to spread the word to local organisations that could benefit from receiving surplus food.
Aldi customers can support good causes throughout the year by leaving food and household essentials at community donation points in its stores.
