Swindon Borough Council has completed its summer resurfacing programme, with improvements made to residential streets and major routes.

Among the roads resurfaced were Station Road, Colebrook Road, Eastcott Road and Bath Road.

The work forms part of an annual programme which will see more than £2 million invested in maintaining and improving Swindon’s roads during the current financial year.

The council said roads were selected following condition surveys and inspections, with priority given to those most in need of attention.

Further resurfacing work is being planned for early 2027, with Commercial Road and Crombey Street among the locations expected to benefit.

The council has also revealed that more than 10,000 reactive pothole repairs have been completed across Swindon so far this year.

Meanwhile, improvements to footpaths are continuing, with reconstruction work planned or underway at Dorcan Way and Manchester Road.

Councillor Nick Gardiner, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said:

“I’m really pleased to see these improvements which have been completed over the summer.

“We know there is still more to do, but this programme is another important step in improving Swindon’s roads and investing in the infrastructure people use every day.

“Work was carried out across the summer in order to reduce the impact on journeys for residents in the Borough. The team also take into account key times routes were being used, undertaking overnight works where necessary.

“I’m working closely with our highways teams to shape and drive forward the next programme of works, with a clear focus on delivering better roads for residents. I’d like to thank our teams for their continued hard work in maintaining and improving our network.”

The resurfacing programme forms part of the council’s Local Transport Plan, which outlines how roads and other transport infrastructure will be maintained and improved.

Further schemes are expected to take place in early 2027 as the council continues its investment in the borough’s road network.
