A 32-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson following a fire at house in Swindon yesterday (Saturday 10 December 2016).
He is currently in custody.
Emergency services were called to the fire on Drew Street, Even Swindon at 5.40am yesterday.
Sadly, a woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Det Insp Paul Catton said: “Our enquiries will continue in the area, around the address where the fire took place, and I would like to thank the local community for their help and patience while we carry out our work.
“Also, I would like to appeal for anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the Drew Street/Morris Street area, in the earlier hours of Saturday morning (10/12/16), to contact us, when you do please quote Operation Meadow”.
