Officers from Wiltshire Police carried out a successful drugs warrant search of a house in Swindon, where thousands of pounds of class A drugs were found.

The search of the house in Rosebery Street, Broadgreen, took place yesterday morning (Tuesday 6 December 2016) at 8.15.

Crack cocaine, worth up to £3,000 (2.8 oz/79 grams), was recovered along with a small bag of cannabis and £600 in cash.

Two men were arrested at the property: A 20-year-old-man from London and a 36-year-old-man from Swindon; both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They have been released on conditional bail.

PC Luke Atkinson said: “This was a successful result thanks to good, solid information from the local community.
“Our message is: we will always act on any intelligence given to us; rest assured we will do something about any concerns from anyone living in any neighbourhood, be it in Swindon or elsewhere in Wiltshire.
“This is also a good example of joined up working; Swindon Borough Council and the police working together to try and stop the supply of illegal drugs.”

Swindon’s Drug and Alcohol Treatment service, CGL, were on hand to offer support to those potentially affected by the seizure. The service is open to anyone experiencing difficulties with their drug and alcohol use and can be contacted on 01793 611870.

If you have any information about illegal drugs activity in your area please call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
