A 30-year-old woman, seriously injured in the fire on Manchester Road, Swindon late on Sunday evening (6 November 2016) has sadly died in hospital.

Her death is being treated as not suspicious following on an investigation by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Wiltshire Police which determined that this was a tragic accident.

The cause of the fire is still being determined by Fire Investigators and Police.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed.

A file will be prepared for H M Coroner for Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Police has liaised with Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service for a multi-agency ‘pop-up’ facility at the nearby mosque where Fire and Rescue personnel will be on hand to offer fire safety advice.

Superintendent Charlie Armstrong said:  “This facility is to support people in this community during what is a difficult time for those living here.
“Not only will this give local people a central meeting point to come together but also reassurance through the fire prevention advice available.
“Police officers will also be on hand to give reassurance and listen to anyone who may want to give additional information to help our enquiries.”

Police would still like to hear from anyone who may have video of the fire, as part of our enquiries – please come forward if you can help.

Also, if you do have footage, please be mindful about sharing it on social media sites; please be sensitive to the grieving families involved in this tragic accident who will find any reminders both painful and distressing.

Anyone with any further information, who doesn’t wish to visit the “pop-up” facility, can also contact police on 101 or call anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
