The West Wilts Area MVT are once again ready to host their FREE annual event ‘Lacock At War’ Codenamed: Bolero

Now in its 6th year and for a small Wiltshire village boasts over 60 vehicles that will be on display, and has in past events had 10,000 visitors.

The event on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th August takes place on the Lacock Playing Field, High Street, Lacock, Chippenham.

The highlight of this years event will be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with a Spitfire flypast on Saturday 19th August.

On the ground the two day military event is packed with plenty of military vehicles of all ages, Living History Groups and trade stands, a Bar and BBQ to keep you fuelled throughout each day.

There will also be plenty of fun and entertainment throughout the weekend, including the lovely Miss Madeline Brown (1940s singer), Mr Johnny Victory (1940s singer), the man with the music ‘DJUXB’, the Fabulous Melksham Rock n Rollers and the Lady She’s Vintage Fashion Show.

Normandy Veterans Bob Conway & Gordon Smith will be attending the show again, these two veterans are now in their 90s, but still going strong.

There will be plenty of military charities attending the event including: SAAFA, RAFFA, ABF & Bike Tours For The Wounded.

For those interested in modern military, or interested in maybe joining the British Army, 7Rifles (Reserves) from Reading will be at the event.

The Military Vehicle Trust is a nationwide organisation of which the West Wiltshire Area MVT is a part of.

Lacock is a national trust village, and a popular tourism destination in itself with places of interest including the Abbey. Lacock is mentioned in the Doomsday Book, with a population 160-190 and had two mills and a vineyard.

The village has also been used as location for both film and TV which included in 1995 the BBC production of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and in two of the Harry Potter film franchise, ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ and ‘The Half Blood Prince.’
