The Fine Art Auction, held at the Hilton hotel in Swindon, brought together local artists, art enthusiasts and supporters of the charity, raising an impressive £7,530 so far.
The event was organised by retired solicitor and former Rotary Club of Swindon president Jeremy Holt, alongside local artist Caroline Day, with generous contributions from artists who donated their work to support the cause. Fittingly, Caroline’s painting of daffodils achieved the highest bid for a single artwork in the main auction, which alone raised almost £5,000.
Additional artworks were available on side tables, helping to boost the overall fundraising total. The evening was supported by the Mayor of Swindon, Mayor’s Consort Councillor Jane Milner-Barry, who attended alongside Prospect Hospice chief executive Jeremy Lune.
Community fundraiser Hannah Maddams, the Rotary Club of Swindon, Visual Art Swindon and GEL Studios also contributed to making the event possible. Auctioneer Alastair Greener kept the bidding moving throughout the evening, with enthusiastic participants competing for the donated artworks.
A local donor generously covered all venue and hospitality costs, meaning 100% of the auction proceeds could go directly to Prospect Hospice. The organisers expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed, from the artists who donated their paintings to the bidders whose generosity helped achieve the impressive fundraising total.
Prospect Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care and support for patients and families across Swindon and the surrounding area, making fundraising events such as this an important source of charitable income.
With donations still being counted, the final amount raised could rise further.
