One of the festival’s main exhibition spaces has opened at 19 Canal Walk, next to McDonald’s, transforming a town centre unit into a gallery showcasing contemporary artwork.
Now in its third year, SWAF features 15 exhibitions displaying more than 200 artworks. The collections explore themes including Sleep Rituals, Lost and Iconic Swindon, with contributions from artists across the South West and beyond.
The free festival is organised by creative charity Artsite and led by co-managers Sue Bardwell and Sally Taylor, alongside Lisa Lowe and Leah Panigada-Carey.

Sue Bardwell said:
“The Brunel team have been incredible. They really get the vision of what we are doing.
“We hope it will bring something for everybody who is in and around the town centre. It is a great venue, super-accessible, all on ground level, with plenty of space.”
The exhibition at The Brunel forms part of a wider programme of events taking place across Swindon, with additional activities being held at Artsite’s base in Theatre Square and at the Wyvern Theatre.

A spokesperson for The Brunel Swindon said:
“We are delighted to partner with the Swindon Arts Fringe Festival and welcome this fantastic celebration of creativity.
“Transforming 19 Canal Walk into a vibrant gallery is a brilliant way to support local talent and bring a unique cultural experience right to the heart of our shopping centre.”
The festival continues until Saturday 28 June.
