A Day at the Wharf will be held at Wharf Green on Saturday 29th August, with activities running from 10am until 4pm.
The event will feature live music, children’s entertainment, arts and crafts, sport and activities run by community organisations.
The Bubble Master will return following an appearance at last year’s Summer at the Green events. Bubble entertainment will take place between 11am and 2.30pm.
Live music will be performed on a dedicated stage throughout the day, with support from Swindon 105.5.
Artsite, Museum & Art Swindon and the Creation Station will provide arts and crafts, while Swindon Open Studios will hold reading sessions for children.
Swindon Fencing Club will offer free fencing taster sessions for youngsters, while families will also be able to take part in lawn games.
A competition to find the Swindon Junior Town Crier will take place at 12pm, giving youngsters the opportunity to test their voices.
Charities and community organisations will also have stalls at Wharf Green, where visitors can learn about their work and ways to get involved.
Councillor Matthew Vallender, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Planning and Regeneration, said:
“When it comes to the end of the summer holidays, we know children may be dreading the return to school (and parents may be running out of ways to entertain their kids) so why not come and have a last dance at Wharf Green
“A Day at the Wharf will be a fun-filled day to mark the end of the holidays and I’m really pleased we’re able to put something like this on for free.
“So if you’re in the area, or if you’re just looking for something to do, come on down and take part.”
The event is free and visitors do not need to book in advance. Food outlets may be available at an additional cost.
Activities could change depending on the weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
