South Swindon Parish Council are expecting the new event to draw large crowds into Old Town.
Christmas in the Town Gardens will run on 13, 14, 20 and 21 December, with activities taking place from 12.00pm to 4.00pm.
The Parish Council says the aim is to create a welcoming, fully accessible community space throughout December, with no entry costs for residents.
Family workshops, crafts and live entertainment will be staged around the historic Bandstand. Santa’s Craft Corner will host a changing programme of creative sessions.
A wide mix of local performers and community groups will appear over the four days, including Emma Doupé, JGMusic, the Swindon Welcomes Ukraine Choir, Emily’s Dance Academy and SALOS. The full schedule is listed on the Parish Council’s website.
Food stalls will rotate throughout the festival, with traders such as Hungry ’n’ Thirsty, Lizzy Bakes, Soul Flava, Zapiekjanki and ZuDuzo Kitchen joining the Town Gardens Café.
Large-scale interactive installations by Air Giants will be positioned around the Bandstand. Swindon Culture Collective will also display a Magical Lantern Forest created by local artists.
No booking is needed and visitors can arrive at any time between 12.00pm and 4.00pm. Free parking will be offered at The Commonweal School.
A RevoLOOtion mobile toilet unit will be available on every event date. It features a lift, grab rails, a hoist and an adult changing bench.
