The squad completed the climb on Tuesday 24th June, raising funds ahead of their trip to the Gothia Cup, where they will represent the club in one of the world’s largest youth football tournaments in just two weeks’ time.
After completing the challenging ascent of Wales’ highest mountain, the players celebrated at the summit by proudly displaying a Swindon Town flag overlooking the surrounding landscape.
The Gothia Cup attracts youth teams from across the world and has become one of the most prestigious tournaments in international youth football. A number of former participants have gone on to represent their national teams.

While the climb was organised to support the team’s fundraising efforts, coaches also described it as “a fantastic team bonding experience for the boys”, helping to build resilience, teamwork and togetherness before the tournament.
Swindon Town praised the players’ efforts on social media, writing: “Mount Snowdon Summit Reached! Huge well done to our STFC Boys U16s on reaching the top of Mount Snowdon! A tremendous effort from everyone.”
Photographs shared by the club show the squad, coaches and staff wearing Swindon Town colours as they posed with a large club flag at the summit.
The successful challenge marks another step in the team’s preparations before they head to Sweden, with the determination shown on the mountain set to be put to the test against youth teams from around the world.
