The firm has acquired Becton Dickinson’s long-standing facility, safeguarding hundreds of skilled jobs and keeping advanced medical device production in the town. The site has operated for more than twenty years, producing millions of drug delivery systems each year.
Under its new ownership, the Swindon operation will continue supplying Becton Dickinson while seeking growth with other pharmaceutical and medical technology clients.
Neil Sibley, CEO of Quvara Medical and Hi-Tech Group, said:
“This is a proud moment for Swindon and for everyone who has built this site’s reputation for excellence. We’re combining local expertise with international investment to create a future-ready manufacturing business, one that continues Swindon’s legacy at the heart of UK medical technology.”
Paul Bragg, Managing Director of the Buckland Group, said: “Our vision is to build world-class UK specialist businesses. Quvara Medical is the first of several launches under the Quvara Group umbrella, and it begins right here in Swindon.”
James Thompson, Plant Director, said:
“We are proud of our dedicated and highly skilled workforce at the Swindon plant. Since the mid-80s, our site has evolved significantly, and we take great pride in our achievements in manufacturing much-needed medical devices.”
Commenting further on the investment, he added: “This welcome commitment from Buckland Group supports continuity of employment, allows for continued development, sustained investment in the region, and reinforces our reputation as a leading hub for medical device manufacturing excellence. Today marks a pivotal moment and there is a genuine sense of excitement about the opportunities ahead as we embark on this next chapter!”
The investment is expected to support long-term employment, expand training opportunities for young engineers and strengthen links with Swindon-based suppliers.
Quvara Medical joins Buckland Group’s portfolio alongside Hi-Technology Group Ltd, which took over Sabre Plastic Mouldings Ltd in March 2024. The move reinforces plans to grow the Group’s wider engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
