The project, led by Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, has seen timber from the felled tree repurposed into handcrafted seating.
The three benches have been placed at Neptune Park, Merton Fields and Kingsdown Park.
Each bench features a different animal carved into the wood, creating a distinctive design for each location.

The work was commissioned by the parish council and carried out by local artist Ryan Branco, who turned the timber into functional artwork.
Rather than removing the tree entirely, the council chose to reuse the wood within the community.
Jacob Gilbert, aged eight, said:
“My favourite one is the squirrel because it looks really real. I like trying to find it when we go to the park.”

Claire Crilly, Stratton St Margaret Parish Councillor for Merton Ward, said:
“It’s fantastic to see something so positive come from a tree that was part of our local landscape. These benches not only enhance our parks, but they also tell a story of sustainability and community pride.
I hope residents will enjoy them for years to come.”
The benches are already proving popular with families and park visitors.
