Councillor Gary Sumner visited Kerr Office Group, a workplace design and fit-out specialist based in Westmead.

The visit included discussions about Swindon’s economic ambitions and how established local companies can support businesses moving to or expanding in the borough.

Kerr Office Group has operated from Swindon for nine years and employs more than 20 people. It delivers workplace projects for organisations across the UK.

The company is involved in projects connected with significant investment in the town, including work for defence technology provider Stark Defence.

It is also working on Callaway Golf’s forthcoming expansion of its operations in South Marston.

Cllr Sumner met company founder Jonathan Kerr and chief executive Alex Kerr to discuss the council’s Economic Growth Plan, priority sectors and support for businesses.

They also discussed the role Swindon’s existing supply chain can play in attracting investment, with local firms potentially benefiting when larger companies establish or expand operations in the area.

Cllr Sumner said: “It was a pleasure to visit Kerr Office Group and see first-hand how a successful Swindon business is helping other organisations grow and invest in our borough.

“We had very productive discussions about our Economic Growth Plan, the opportunities within our priority growth sectors and how the Council can continue to support businesses looking to expand and succeed in Swindon.

“Swindon is a fantastic place to do business. By working closely with ambitious local companies such as Kerr Office Group, we can help ensure that new investment delivers lasting economic benefits, creates high-quality jobs and strengthens our local economy for the future.”

The council says it is continuing to work with businesses of different sizes to attract investment, create higher-value employment and support sustainable economic growth.

Kerr Office Group says Swindon’s location, workforce and commercial opportunities have contributed to its growth since establishing a base in the town.

Chief executive Alex Kerr said: “Swindon has been an excellent base for our business, offering the connectivity, skilled workforce and commercial opportunities needed to support our continued growth.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Sumner to our offices and discuss the exciting opportunities available to businesses looking to invest and expand in the town.

“We see first-hand the confidence that organisations have in Swindon as a place to establish and grow their operations, and we are proud to play our part in supporting that growth and helping more businesses make Swindon their home.”
