Running from 12pm to 6pm, the event will once again transform Wood Street, Victoria Road and surrounding streets into a winter wonderland filled with lights, stalls and entertainment.
Headlining this year’s festival is Swindon-born singer-songwriter Josh Kumra, who rose to fame after co-writing and providing vocals on Wretch 32’s UK number one hit, Don’t Go. His return to Old Town is expected to be a special highlight for local fans.
Visitors can expect a full programme of entertainment, including live performances from community groups such as the Pauline Quirke Academy Swindon, dancers from JP Studios, the South Asian Performing Arts Centre, Fran Daisy, The Croft Primary School, Andrew Grindrod, the Abbey Park Dance Academy and JHS Dance.
The Christmas market will feature gifts, crafts and festive treats from local traders, alongside street food and seasonal drinks including mulled wine and hot chocolate. A fun fair provided by Steven Hill will also return.
The popular light switch-on ceremony will once again take place, featuring a crowd countdown.
The event is organised by the Old Town Business Association (OTBA) in partnership with South Swindon Parish Council, supported by sponsors including Los Gatos, Deacons, Domino’s Old Town, Charles Harding, Kings and Sinewave.
Roads across Old Town will be closed to traffic throughout the day, creating a pedestrian-friendly environment for families to enjoy the celebrations safely.
A voluntary ticket donation of £1.85 (£2 on the door) per person is requested to help fund the event and support its future. You can buy a ticket here.
Kris Talikowski, Chairman of the Old Town Business Association, said:
“At the heart of the Old Town Christmas Festival is the ethos of community, family, and celebration. Local businesses and residents come together for an amazing festive experience that has become a cornerstone of Swindon’s Christmas season.”
Talikowski added:
“If the event keeps growing at this pace, we’ll have to find a way to expand beyond Victoria Road. Early discussions with Councillor Chris Watts, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Transport, are already exploring how we could make that possible in future years.”
