Mayor of Swindon, Fay Howard, is visiting one of the halloween themed displays this evening. Both have been created by local families who have turned their passion for Halloween into community fundraising events.

On Kingshill, the Daisy’s family has transformed their front garden and allotment into a ‘Halloween Forest’. The immersive walk-through features animatronics, inflatables, eerie lighting, and live actors.

The attraction is raising money for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

Daisy Todd, who helps organise the annual event, said:

“Every year, my family decorates the front of our house and puts on a spooky walk-through in our allotment to raise money for Sands.

“The charity is very close to our hearts – ten years ago, my cousin Annabelle was stillborn, and Sands were so supportive.

“Ever since, we’ve tried to give back and spread their message, which often goes unnoticed.

“Over the years, we’ve upped the stakes to gain more recognition and donations – we’ve even been featured on BBC News and the radio.

“This year, we’d love as many people as possible to come along and help us raise funds for such an important cause.”

Over on Goddard Avenue, another family is celebrating fifteen years of Halloween creativity with a Harry Potter-themed ‘Gringotts Bank’ display.

They are fundraising for Prospect Hospice in memory of a young relative who died a few years ago.

Mayor Howard said:

“It’s wonderful to see how Swindon families put so much creativity and care into their Halloween displays, not just for fun, but to make a real difference in people’s lives.

“Daisy’s family, and the Goddard Avenue team, are perfect examples of how community spirit shines through even on the spookiest night of the year.”

Residents are encouraged to visit the displays, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and support the charities involved.
