Members of St Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church visited the Prospect Hospice on Friday 6 March to hand over the contribution.
The donation was presented by parish vicar Rev. Varghese T Mathew and church trustee Binu Chandapillai.
The £500 gift was funded through savings from the church’s parish pilgrimage earlier this year, along with additional support from the church account.
It follows a similar contribution made last year, when the parish donated £500 to the hospice using money saved from a community leisure trip to the Isle of Wight.
Church leaders said acts of giving form an important part of the spiritual reflection associated with Lent.
During the visit, parish members met with Hannah Maddams, who outlined the scale of the hospice’s work across the region and the increasing need for community backing.
Founded in 1980, Prospect Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care across northeast Wiltshire, including Swindon, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett, Fairford and Lechlade.
Care is delivered free of charge to patients and families at the hospice in Wroughton, in people’s homes, in care homes, at Great Western Hospital and through its wellbeing centre in Marlborough.
Last year, the charity supported more than 840 patients, carers and family members with practical, emotional and psychological help.
A further 320 adults and children accessed bereavement services.
However, the hospice continues to face financial pressures.
It costs more than £10 million each year to run its services, with around 18 per cent of its income coming from government funding.
The charity must therefore raise more than £8.5 million annually from the local community.
Funding constraints mean only six of the hospice’s twelve inpatient beds can currently remain open, limiting the number of patients who can be supported at any one time.
Alongside the financial donation, the parish is organising a food collection later this month to support The Salvation Army food bank in Swindon.
Organisers say the initiative is intended to help local families and raise awareness of charities supporting the community.
St Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church is a small parish which worships at Tanwood School at Delta Business Park in Swindon.
The church also runs a Sunday school for children and places an emphasis on fellowship, charity and supporting local needs.
