It’s clear to see that electric vehicles are the future, and more people than ever are moving towards eco-friendly cars to get them from A to B.
The UK Government has banned the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, with hybrid vehicles also to be phased out from 2035.
While the market has already moved in that direction, it will only accelerate towards EVs in the coming years.
Here are five reasons why you should join the movement and get yourself an electric vehicle.
They help save the planet
The Climate Crisis is perhaps the biggest existential threat to us all on Planet Earth. Emissions from petrol and diesel cars are one of the biggest contributors to global warming.
Fully electric cars emit no gases while developing hydrogen cell technologies emit just water vapour.
While that makes an instant and obvious contribution to the climate, it is estimated that there are over 1.4 billion cars being used across the world, so making the switch long-term globally will take some time.
They help save you money
Chargeable through conventional power outlets in your home, it costs far less to fuel up an electric car for a journey compared to petrol or diesel equivalents.
There are other savings that you can make by going green, with no road tax to pay if you own a fully electric car and maintenance costs also being lower as the powertrain has far fewer moving parts than an internal combustion engine.
Variety is on the up
Dealerships up and down the country have now switched focus towards electric and hybrid vehicles as manufacturers have done likewise.
Just about every marque on the UK market now has at least one electric-powered option in its line-up, with the wider variety also helping to drive on-the-road prices down in an ever-more competitive market.
Future-proofed technology
By force and necessity, electric cars are here to stay.
That means that the technology being put in place now is the technology of the future and you will likely be able to rely on an EV, and its servicing, far longer into the future than a petrol equivalent.
Quieter and smoother to drive
That lack of moving parts and the loss of internal combustion engines means that EVs are far quieter than cars of old.
The battery power is also far more efficient than petrol, with swift acceleration and responsive braking helping to lift the driving experience.
