Christ Church Swindon will open its Community Centre on Christmas Day to welcome residents who would otherwise be spending the day alone.
The event will run from 12 noon until 3.30pm and will include a three-course lunch, carols, conversation and the King’s Speech.
Organisers say the dinner aims to reduce isolation during the festive period, particularly for older people and those without close family nearby.
The event has been supported by a £1,000 contribution from Paul Fell and DSNY Wealth Planning.
The donation will help cover the cost of food, volunteers and the logistics involved in running the day.
Paul Fell and members of the DSNY Wealth Planning team recently visited the Community Centre to meet manager Jenny Hatter and learn more about the preparations.
Organisers have said the Christmas Day operation is expected to provide meals for more than 100 people, both at the Community Centre and through deliveries to residents who are housebound, although this figure has not been independently verified.
The dinner is open to anyone who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.
A suggested donation of £10 has been set, but people will still be welcomed even if they are unable to contribute.
Places can be reserved by contacting Christ Church Swindon on 01793 267500 or by emailing [email protected].
The event is supported by volunteers and local partners, with DSNY Wealth Planning named as a key supporter for 2025.
