Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after the attempted theft of a trailer at a property on Mill Lane, Old Town, Swindon.

Just before 1pm on Friday 6 January 2017 CCTV cameras at the house captured a man climbing over the garden wall and gate.

It’s believed the suspect was then passed a gas cutting torch and bottle over the wall by someone else; he then carried it to the metal trailer, which was parked in the grounds, and started to use the cutter on the lock of the towing hitch on the trailer.

The owner spotted him and ran out of the house, shouted at him and the suspect ran off.

A picture of a man police would like to speak to in relation to this incident is above.

If you saw or heard anything suspicious in this area at this time or anyone acting suspiciously, perhaps carrying a gas canister and/or blow torch,  please contact PC Pedro Wiltshire on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.  Contact can also be made via e-mail: [email protected].police.co.uk
