The debate will be broadcast on Swindon24’s Facebook Live at 5.30pm on Tuesday 5th May 2026, two days before voters head to the polls.

Organisers say the event will offer a direct conversation on the key issues affecting the town, allowing viewers to compare candidates side by side.

Those taking part are:

Jim Robbins, Labour
Tom Butcher, Green Party
Gary Sumner, Conservatives
Casey Sherwood, Reform UK
Stan Pajak, Liberal Democrats

The debate is expected to centre on the challenges facing Swindon residents, including council finances and spending decisions.

The future of the town centre and how to attract higher-paying jobs and sustainable economic growth are also likely to be discussed. Candidates may also be questioned on support for small businesses, opportunities for young people and what their immediate priorities would be if elected.

With pressure mounting on local services, adult social care and children’s services are anticipated to feature.

Council tax and how services should be funded are also expected to be raised.

Each participant will be asked to outline specific actions they would take, including what they would change and where difficult decisions may need to be made.

The event will take place at Create Studios in front of a small audience made up of first-time voters.

It will be moderated by Swindon24’s Kris Talikowski, with organisers promising a fast-paced format focused on the concerns of residents.

Viewers will be able to watch the debate live via the Swindon24 Facebook page event and follow the discussion in real time ahead of casting their vote.

The full debate will be streamed live via the Swindon24 Facebook page event.

Tune in at 5.30pm on Tuesday 5th May to watch the debate live.
