The funding will support refurbishment work at the Pride Hub, including accessible toilets, new flooring and updated furniture.

Organisers say the improvements will help make the space more inclusive for people with additional needs, while creating a more comfortable environment for the wider community.

During the visit, Ms Alexander praised volunteers behind the project and the backing provided through the grant.

She said:

“It was fantastic to visit Swindon & Wiltshire Pride today, where they were presented with a generous grant from the Morrisons Foundation.

“The new community hub is a lovely space, made available by the Brunel Shopping Centre, and I know that this latest funding will be put to very good use by the volunteers who are doing up the shop and associated areas.

“A big thank you to the Morrisons Foundation for supporting the community in this way – their support for local projects provides some of the glue that makes our town so special and I look forward to Swindon & Wiltshire Pride going from strength to strength in the future.”

Paul Stewart, from Swindon & Wiltshire Pride, said the grant would make a meaningful difference.

He said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for their generous donation.

“This support will make a real and tangible difference to people with additional needs who come to our hub. This helps us provide a more accessible, inclusive and welcoming space.

“Funding like this enables us to reach those who are too often overlooked, ensuring everyone in our community feels supported, valued and able to make use of the support we provide.”

Thomas Holmes, Store Manager at Morrisons Eldene, said:

“It’s an absolute pleasure to award this grant to The Swindon & Wiltshire Pride and help them continue their mission of fostering a more inclusive and welcoming community for all.”

The Morrisons Foundation was established in 2015 and provides grants to charities and community projects across the UK.

Since launching, the foundation says it has donated more than £47 million to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
