Dawn Morse, founder of  training company Core Elements, is will be one of the keynote trainers at the national Holistic Health Show at the NEC in Birmingham next week.

The 42-year-old, who ran the University of Bath foundation degree in Sports Therapy at Swindon College for nine years and who now runs her own accredited Level 4 & Level 5 Sports and Remedial Massage courses across the UK, has been asked to share her knowledge of dry cupping on Monday May 20.

Dawn is one of the UK’s leading trainers of the dry-cupping which is an ancient form of alternative therapy dating to ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures.

During cupping therapy therapists apply glass, bamboo or silicone cups to the skin for a few minutes to create suction. The cups are placed over several areas to create a vacuum which lifts the soft tissue and creates an upward stretch within the muscle and skin. This increases blood flow and induces a stretch effect, which results in a reduction in muscle tension and associated pain.

The application of cups can be used to treat a variety of conditions including muscle pain and tension, reduced joint movement, headaches, back pain and sciatica, stress and anxiety.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be asked to work with the Federation of Holistic Therapists as part of their training congress which takes place as part of this two-day event. The FHT already accredits my courses and I’m honoured they’ve asked me to talk about – and demonstrate, dry cupping which is becoming increasingly popular for therapists and personal trainers.”

Dawn is well known in the South West as a leading trainer in sports massage and sports therapy. Her credentials are impressive. She has a Master’s degree in Sports and Health Sciences, a post graduate certificate in further and higher education, has lectured in sports science and therapy for over ten years and was the programme leader for the foundation degree in sports therapy for the University of Bath – based in Swindon. She was also, previously, a lecturer in sports science at the City of Bath College and now tutors part time for the Open University.

Today she runs her local courses from Jury’s Inn, Swindon throughout the year for small groups of individuals who wish to work in the sector and improve their skills. She also works from other bases including Exeter, Plymouth, Liverpool.

Dawn’s company, Core Elements offers a range of training programmes for professionals including:

Level 5 certificates in electrotherapy, manual therapy and dry needling
