For many people, the pandemic revealed the true value of spending time outdoors. Work and technology play an evermore present role in our lives. But going outside is one of the most effective ways to escape from it all.

Patio

The refreshing feeling that we get after spending time outside is even backed up by science – research shows that time spent outdoors is beneficial for our mental and physical health. With all this in mind, it’s essential that you enjoy spending time in your outdoor space.

If you have a patio that you want to transform into a setting that you never want to leave, you’ve come to the right place. In this quick article, we’ll be sharing our top tips on how to decorate your patio.

Add lighting

No matter how large or small your patio is, there are many benefits to adding lighting. From extra safety to creating the perfect atmosphere, they’re the perfect way to give your patio area a new look. Plus, there are many different options available to suit your individual needs.

Wall lights will suit you well if you have furniture on your patio, whereas hanging fairy or festoon lights are great for adding ambient light to patio parties. Solar lights charge throughout the day so that they’re ready to light up outside at night, making them a more convenient choice.

Soft furnishings

There’s no use in having a patio space full of hard and unforgiving chairs that you don’t want to spend any time sitting on. Instead, be sure to incorporate some soft furnishings to achieve a good balance of aesthetics and practicality.

Chairs with removable cushions are a great addition to any patio space. They’re perfect for lounging on in the sun and you can always bring the cushions inside to keep them during rainy spells.

Add plants

What’s a garden without these quintessential natural features? It’s quite simple to decorate your patio just by using potted plants or even a container garden.

Whether you prefer colourful flowers or luscious green leaves, potted plants can really bring your patio to life. What’s more, potted plants are known to bring you plenty of health benefits, as well as purer air and an improved mood.

Use colour

Involving colours into your landscape doesn’t have to be difficult. The colour in your outdoor patio can come from a variety of sources. You can use colourful lighting, furniture and plants, as well as pots, tiles and fences.

Think about how the colours present in all of these elements will tie together and contribute to a cohesive patio decoration scheme.
