3 Tips To Help You Run A Successful School Trip In Swindon

If you are a teacher or a school leader of some kind in Swindon, then you will be familiar with the popularity of school trips. School trips in this region serve many purposes, both educational and for entertainment purposes. If you have never run your own school trip before, you likely don’t know where to start.

Firstly, it’s key that you do your planning early, to give you enough time, to give yourself enough time to prepare. This article will cover three general tips that will serve you well when planning a school trip in Swindon.

Get Everything You Need Ahead Of Time

To help your school trip run successfully, you should try and get everything you need ahead of time. You may need to get safety bibs for the school children so that they can be easily identified when out of school premises, and you may want to get some materials related to the trip, too. For example, if you are taking the children to Highclere Castle or Oxford Castle & Prison, then you may want to get some props or infographics to help prepare them.

You may want to get some bits to help get them excited, but you will also need to get some essentials. One such essential that you would need is a school minibus to help you get all the children on the school trip and back to Swindon in no time at all. The Minibus Centre has minibuses available with space for up to 17 people, and they have optional extras to choose from. Getting this ahead of time will help you plan the school trip with ease.

Do Inspections

If you want to ensure everything is fully above board, it will be best to complete inspections. This refers to a few different areas. You can conduct inspections on your vehicles and the route itself, but you may also want to conduct inspections of the destinations. This may be harder for trips further out of Swindon, but it could be done virtually.

Of course, this all depends on where you are going. Due to regulations, if you are going to manned tourism locations, it is likely to be safe already. However, if you are looking to visit a wood with your school, then you may want to do an inspection on the area you’re looking to visit. This helps you check out the location and find areas that are unsafe for children if there are any.

Complete Health And Safety Checks

On a related note about finding areas that are unsafe for children, you should look to complete a variety of health and safety checks. You will need to complete various paperwork, including speaking to parents and sending them forms, so that they know everything is being planned. If you are taking the kids out of Swindon, you will likely have many concerned parents who will want reassurance.

Consider what sort of health and safety checks you need to complete. If you’re concerned on how to get started with this, consider outsourcing the task to health and safety experts. Numerous organisations and individuals in Swindon could assist with this task, as they may know more about what checks to complete.
