The Eco Fair and Summer Fete will be held at Christ Church on Saturday 6 June from 11am to 3pm, turning the church grounds into a space for environmental activities, family entertainment and community stalls.
The event marks the start of the Swindon Churches Green Festival, which runs from 6 to 14 June and involves churches and faith groups from across the town.
Organisers say the week-long programme aims to promote practical environmental action while helping residents connect with nature and one another.
Christ Church, an A Rocha Gold Award Eco Church, is using the theme ‘Rooted in Faith, Growing a Greener Future’ to focus on sustainability and environmental awareness within the local community.
Visitors to the eco fair can expect a range of stalls, plant sales and wildlife organisations, as well as a Churchyard Wildlife Count to help residents learn more about biodiversity in the area.
Traditional summer fete attractions will also be on offer, including a bouncy castle, games, face painting, eco-crafts for children and various community stalls.
Food and drink will be available throughout the day, with hot and cold options, the church café and a cider bar open to visitors.
Dog owners are being encouraged to bring their pets along to try a specially designed dog agility course set up for the event.
A spokesperson for the festival said:
“This festival is an invitation to everyone in Swindon, regardless of background, to join us in exploring how we can better care for our common home.”
They said the wider festival will feature workshops, educational sessions, family activities and community gatherings across Swindon, all centred on greener living and environmental awareness.
Entry to the Christ Church Eco Fair and Summer Fete is free, although some activities may carry small charges.
