The building has been upgraded to create a modern base for youth activities and local groups after a £150,000 investment by Stratton St Margaret Parish Council.

The work has focused on providing a safe and inclusive environment to support wellbeing, engagement and positive social interaction among young people.

The reopening was marked by a formal event, with the pavilion officially opened by the council’s chairman, Tim Page, who cut the ribbon.

Speaking on behalf of the parish council, Cllr Page said:

“This investment is about more than bricks and mortar. Meadowcroft Pavilion gives us a dedicated space where young people feel welcome, supported and valued.

By providing high quality youth facilities, we are investing in the long term wellbeing of our community and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.”

The refurbished pavilion will now act as a permanent weekday base for the council’s youth provision.

A new sensory pod has been installed as part of the project, offering a calm and supportive space for young people who benefit from quieter environments and sensory regulation.

Local neighbourhood policing officers attended the opening to view the facilities and meet those involved in the project.

PC Deller welcomed the investment and highlighted the importance of youth provision in giving young people positive places to spend their time, while noting the role accessible spaces can play in addressing antisocial behaviour.

PC Plaister also praised the pavilion, describing it as a fantastic new facility that young people could look forward to using.

At weekends, the building will be used by Stratton Junior Football Club, helping to strengthen links between sport, youth development and the wider community.

The reopening is being viewed locally as a key milestone, reflecting collaboration between the parish council, youth workers and community partners.

With the refurbishment complete, Meadowcroft Pavilion is expected to play a central role in supporting young people while serving as a shared community asset.
