Beechcroft Library has been recognised for its community role after securing the Community Hub award at the 2025 Community Libraries Network Awards.
The recognition marks steady growth at the library and highlights the work of councillors, staff, volunteers, Brew Book and the Friends group. Their combined efforts have helped develop the Beechcroft Road site into a broader support centre for residents.
Staff said the award also reflects the contribution of organisations based at the library throughout the week. The Community Pantry has become a key service, offering food and essential household items to families who need support.
Brew Book continues to attract residents for coffee and conversation, creating regular social activity. Stratton Advice Point provides guidance for local people, and groups including MIND, the Chess Club, the Local History group and the Friendship Group help maintain a consistent programme of community activity.
The library also serves younger visitors. The Safe Space Youth Group offers a secure setting for young people to meet, and the Homework Club supports children with their studies in a calm environment.
Tim Page, Chairman of Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, said: “Beechcroft Library has become one of the most important community spaces in the parish. Its work goes far beyond books, it is a place where residents find support, connection and practical help. This award recognises the commitment of everyone involved.”
Staff said the building has become a place where people can seek advice, socialise and access support. The award follows years of involvement across the site, which has developed into a base for learning, wellbeing and local services.
