The event, titled Ukrainian Women: Power & Resilience, will take place at No4 Studios in Old Town on Tuesday 18th November at 6pm.
Created by Swindon-based Ukrainian photographer Oksana Lytvynenko, the project features black-and-white portraits and personal stories of women who rebuilt their lives after escaping the Russian invasion.

Oksana moved to Swindon from Kyiv following the full-scale war. She said the exhibition aims to honour those who have endured immense hardship.
“These women have faced unimaginable challenges, but their strength is incredible,” Oksana said.
“This project is about seeing them, hearing them, and understanding that behind every smile there is a story of survival, love, and resilience.”
Some of the women photographed will be attending the event in person to share their stories of loss, strength and hope.

The exhibition has already been displayed in Reading and is set to be published as a book. Each portrait is accompanied by a short written account of the subject’s experiences, reflecting a wide range of emotions including grief, joy, homesickness and renewal.
Kris Talikowski, Vice-Chair of Swindon Welcomes Ukraine and organiser of the event, said the exhibition offers a chance for the community to unite.
“Swindon has welcomed hundreds of Ukrainian families over the past few years, and this exhibition gives our community a space to listen, reflect and connect,” he said.
“These stories remind us that strength and hope can shine through even in the hardest times.”

The evening will include a talk by the photographer, live readings from the women involved, and an opportunity for discussion and reflection.
