He will play Dame Trott in the festive show, which runs from Saturday 5 December 2026 until Sunday 3 January 2027 at Wyvern Theatre.
The engagement marks a major milestone for the performer, as he celebrates 40 years in professional showbusiness and returns to the venue where his career began.
David said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back at the Wyvern, celebrating my 40th professional anniversary.
“It truly feels like coming home – this theatre is where it all started for me, back in 1986 with Jack and the Beanstalk alongside Johnny Ball. I can’t wait to be back on stage in Swindon and share this very special panto with audiences once again.”
He has become a familiar face to Swindon audiences, known for his quick wit, colourful costumes and larger-than-life dame roles.
Outside of pantomime, his theatre career has included parts in major West End productions and national tours such as Les Misérables, Blood Brothers, Starlight Express and My Fair Lady.
This year’s production is being staged by Imagine Theatre, an award-winning company which has delivered more than 260 professional pantomimes across the UK.
Jack and the Beanstalk will feature traditional family entertainment, including large-scale sets, special effects, musical numbers, audience participation and comedy.
The story follows Jack and his family as they struggle financially while an evil giant threatens their village. After Jack trades the family cow, Buttercup, for a handful of magic beans, he sets off on an adventure above the clouds in a bid to change their fortunes.
Imagine Theatre has received multiple honours from the UK Pantomime Association Awards, including recognition for Best Pantomime and Best Set Design.
Further casting details are due to be announced in the coming months, with organisers urging audiences to secure tickets early for what is expected to be one of Swindon’s biggest festive attractions.
