Jordan Michael Taylor, 19 from Austen Crescent in Swindon has been sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment for Grievous Bodily Harm.

In the early hours of 29 October 2017, the victim a 27 year old local man, was in Bridge Street when he became involved in a confrontation with three men.  One of the men was Jordan Taylor who punched the victim in the face knocking him out.

The victims head cracked against the ground and as he lay unconscious Taylor stamped on his chest and ran off. The victim sustained a traumatic brain injury which left him in a critical condition in hospital. He needed surgery and spent many months recovering in a specialist brain injury centre.

An investigation was launched and Taylor was identified and arrested. He pleaded guilty to the charge of Grievous Bodily Harm at Swindon Crown Court.

DC Mike Armishaw said: “DC Mike Armishaw said: “It is true to say that the victim was making a nuisance of himself before he was assaulted but that does not warrant the violence that Taylor responded with. The victim was knocked unconscious and then kicked when he was on the ground causing very serious brain injuries, the impact of which may have a lifelong detrimental effect for both himself and his family. This case shows the very real risk of serious and far reaching consequences even from just one punch.”
