Police are renewing an appeal for information regarding an incident in Marlborough.

At around 5:00 pm on Thursday 18 May 2017, two girls aged seven and eight years were in the restaurant area of the Bear Hotel, Marlborough. A man approached them and tried to hug them, touching them inappropriately as he did so.

The girls were able to inform their mother of the incident who challenged the man. He then left the premises.

The man is described as Asian, 5’9, of slim build with dark receding hair. He was wearing a black hooded top and dark trousers. He was carrying a pink plastic bag.

We are not linking this man any other similar offences in other areas.

A CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the incident is attached.

DI Mark Kent said: “Our investigation has progressed and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, I ask that anyone who has information regarding the identity of the man comes forward.”

Anyone with concerns can contact their local Community Policing Team via 101.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DI Kent at Salisbury CID on 101. Or call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where information may be left anonymously if preferred.
