Wiltshire Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in Swindon in the early hours of this morning.
We received a call at 1.50am this morning (30 April 2018) to a report of a man being assaulted in Curtis Street, Swindon.
Officers were at the scene within five minutes, but despite a thorough search of the area, no victim was located.
However, at 2am we were alerted to a patient who had arrived at Great Western Hospital with suspected stab injuries to the leg.
The man, who is in his 30s, is in a stable condition in hospital.
Det Insp Helen Jacobs, from Swindon CID, said: “I know people will be alarmed, but I want to reassure everyone that we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.
“Our investigation is still in the early stages but we are already piecing together a picture about the events which led to this incident and we have a number of lines of enquiry to follow up.
“You may see a police presence in and around Curtis Street while we carry out forensic work and house-to-house enquiries.”
Our enquiries are currently ongoing and we would appeal for anyone with information to call us on 101. Or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where information can be left anonymously.
