The Swindon Fitness and Community Activity Directory aims to bring together clubs, classes and organisations from across the town in one accessible place.
The project has been set up by Tim Howe, founder of The Longevity Games, who says one of the biggest barriers to getting active is not motivation, but knowing where to begin.
Tim said:
“If someone decides they want to get fitter or improve their health, one of the biggest challenges is simply knowing where to go. There are amazing communities across Swindon already doing fantastic work, but many people don’t know they exist.”

The directory will feature a wide range of opportunities including gyms, running and walking groups, sports clubs, athletics organisations, fitness classes, bootcamps and wellbeing activities.
While the town already has a strong grassroots network, many groups operate independently. This can make them harder to find, particularly for beginners.
The platform is designed to provide a single starting point where residents can explore activities that suit their interests and ability.
The initiative builds on the wider work of The Longevity Games, which focuses on long term health through movement, connection and accessible challenges rather than short term fitness targets.

Tim added:
“There isn’t one way to get active. For some people it might be athletics, for others it might be walking, strength training, dance, or group fitness. What matters is finding something you enjoy and people you enjoy doing it with.”
Organisers say that for many residents the issue is not a lack of options, but a lack of visibility. Without a clear pathway into activity, some people attempt to exercise alone and struggle to maintain motivation.
Local fitness leaders, coaches and community organisers are now being invited to submit their details for inclusion.

The aim is to create a comprehensive picture of Swindon’s active community and make it easier for residents to discover opportunities already available across the town.
Anyone running a fitness, sport or wellbeing group locally is encouraged to get involved.
