According to the railway, the incident happened on Tuesday, 21st July, during the afternoon. The railway alleges the individuals pictured left the site carrying items belonging to the railway.
The heritage railway has released photographs of those it believes may be able to assist with its enquiries and is asking anyone who recognises them, or has information about the incident, to get in touch.
The railway says replacing any missing equipment places an additional financial burden on the volunteer-run organisation, which relies on donations and the work of volunteers to preserve and maintain the historic line.
It is also reminding the public that trespassing on the railway is prohibited. The railway says that, even where trains are not running, the line remains an active railway with potential hazards and unauthorised access may constitute an offence.
Anyone who recognises the individuals pictured, or has information that could assist the railway’s enquiries, is asked to contact the Police.
