Detectives investigating an incident in Penhill, Swindon, last night are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
At approximately 7.20pm on February 27, a 19-year-old local man was attacked by a group of men in Westwood Road.
It is believed a machete was used in the attack.
The victim sustained a large laceration to his arm during the incident and was taken to the Great Western Hospital by ambulance.
His injuries are not life threatening.
Det Insp Scott Anger said: “This incident has left the victim with a serious injury to his arm – he is still in hospital this morning and is receiving treatment.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Westwood Road area of Penhill last night between 7pm and 7.30pm, and anyone who witnessed an altercation in the area.
“As yet, no arrests have been made but our enquiries are still at the very early stages. Violent incidents like this are completely unacceptable – we’d like to reassure the local community that we are doing all we can to ensure those responsible are located and arrested.
