A London man was arrested for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs in Swindon yesterday (25 July).
Officers from the Dedicated Crime Team North were patrolling St Mark’s Park when they stopped six males and searched them under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Phones and cash were seized and an investigation commenced. Also located in the vicinity were a number of knives.
Just 30 minutes later, officers returned to the park and detained a further two men for searches.
One man from London, aged 20, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. He was taken to custody at Gablecross and has been released under investigation.
Sergeant Georgina Green said: “The park was filled with families with young children at the time. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable – play parks are for children to play in a safe environment and this incident will no doubt have caused concerns amongst the local community. We will continue to patrols areas where we have information to suggest drug dealing is taking place.
“A number of mobile phones, cash, and the knives have all been seized and a thorough investigation has begun by the Dedicated Crime Team.
“If you have any information in relation to drug activity, please call police on 101.”
