GreenSquare Homes has been granted planning permission to progress with its ‘Hares Chase’ development of 70 new homes on land near The Forty in Cricklade, Wiltshire.

The development site, on the outskirts of the town, was purchased by GreenSquare Homes with outline planning consent – and Wiltshire Council has now given approval to GreenSquare’s design, mix, and layout of homes.

Hares Chase will feature a range of new high quality Cotswold-style homes including 2, 3, and 4 bedroom houses for sale, rent, and shared ownership.

John Owen, GreenSquare’s Land Manager, said: “We’re delighted to have the go-ahead for this development and can’t wait to get started. Hares Chase is being built in a great rural location that’s only a short walk from the town centre and will provide much-needed new homes for Cricklade.

“The 70 properties we’ll build at Hares Chase will cater for a range of people wanting a new home – first time buyers looking to get on the housing ladder as shared owners; households in need of affordable rent homes; growing families looking for more space; and people planning to downsize.

“The development also features public open space including an equipped play area and we believe it will be an attractive addition to the local area.”

GreenSquare Homes is the development arm of GreenSquare Group, a charitable housing association that operates in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Profits from the sale of 49 of the homes built at Hares Chase will be reinvested in GreenSquare Group to help fund its development of new affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.

The balance of 21 homes will be retained by the group and offered for a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership.

Preliminary work on constructing a roundabout at the site entrance will commence in the next two to three months, with the first homes being available for occupation late Spring 2019.
