Officers have arrested two teenagers after drugs and weapons were found in the car they were travelling in on Thames Avenue near Greenmeadow, Swindon.
Around 12.30am today (Friday 4 August 2017) two Firearms Officers from Tri-Force stopped a car because one of its headlights was out.
The officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and evidence of drug paraphernalia. On searching the vehicle a large amount of cannabis, cash, two knives and an imitation firearm were discovered (pictures attached).
PC Matt Herbert from Tri-Force Specialist Operations said: “The imitation firearm was very realistic.
“We will treat all firearms as real and loaded until proven otherwise; being in possession of anything that resembles a gun in a public place is both foolish, irresponsible and illegal.”
“The consequences of having such a weapon could have been much worse.”
An 17-year-old local male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class C drugs, possession of offensive weapons and an imitation firearm.
An 18-year-old local male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class C drugs.
Both are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
