A mother was left shocked over the festive period after finding used, dirty needles in Swindon bus station toilets whilst with her 6 year-old daughter.
The mother states: “I informed the guy at the bus station, and he didn’t seem to care. He said he would call the council but that’s all he could do”.
Despite the mother pleading with the man, stating that her daughter had entered the building the man refused to close the toilets and replied, “like I just said nothing else I can do”.
Fortunately no one has reported to of been affected by this incorrect disposal of used needles, unlike what occurred in September, when a 5 year-old required emergency treatment after stepping on a needle in a park.
It is possible to file a ‘Street Cleaning’ request online at Swindon Borough Council’s website, which covers:
- Street cleaning
- Removing dead leaves
- Emptying litter and cigarette butt bins
- Removing of chewing gum
- Removing of discarded drug-related implements (e.g. syringes, needles etc.)
- Removing debris from the roads
