Jon walked eight miles in total from his home in a Wiltshire village to the Great Western Hospital during the heavy snow throughout Friday 2 March.

He said: “I would definitely do it again. I’ve worked here for nine years and there was no doubt that I would walk in during the snow.”

Guy Rooney said: “It was a very close competition – it was amazing to see the effort that people made to get here.”

There were ten runners-up to the main prize, who will each receive a bottle of wine.

Teams who work in the Swindon community also made a valiant effort during the hazardous conditions, with many people working on their days off to get out to patients in cut-off areas.

There will be a separate presentation to celebrate the actions of the Trust’s community staff.
