After a year of development behind closed doors, one of Swindon’s most exciting tech startups have finally released their long-awaited service to the public. VANHEROES released their mobile app for iPhone and Android devices earlier this week, enabling users to connect with local Man & Van services at the touch of a button.

VANHEROES are the quicker, safer and more convenient way to find & book professional van drivers in your area. Users can easily create jobs to move large items bought on Gumtree, eBay or Facebook Marketplace, as well as store pickups, furniture moves, storage runs, or waste disposal. The app provides a quote instantly, and payment is handled securely via the user’s choice of Card, PayPal, Apple Pay (iOS) or Google Pay (Android).

Over the last 12 months, the team of four have been on a mission to provide a much-needed service to the residents of Swindon and the surrounding areas. The company, previously known as Tote, first gained local attention last year after winning a place on Nationwide Building Society’s Startup Mentoring Scheme. Now, VANHEROES’ unique offering is finally available to the public, providing its users instant access to a local community of verified, fully licensed van owners.

VANHEROES will allow users to request urgent jobs in as little as 60 minutes. Jobs can also be scheduled in advance to ensure services are completed at a date and time that suits everyone. The app will feature a secure chat function that allows Drivers and Users to communicate without the need to exchange contact details.

VANHEROES’ founding team of entrepreneurs, currently based in the Workshed in Swindon, have devoted their spare time to building the app since June 2018 and aim to follow in the path of other tech giants such as Uber and Deliveroo. The company prides itself on the ability to connect users with the services they need and offer on-demand flexible work for professionals looking to build a steady income as a self-employed individual.

The company has already received plenty of interest prior to the release date, with a number of users and drivers signed up to receive early adopter offers, such as 10% off their first job. The company hopes that following a launch in Swindon, they can quickly expand the service further afield to reach surrounding areas such as Bristol, Reading and Oxford before continuing with expansion plans for the rest of the UK.

Shane Moore, CEO & Founder at VANHEROES, said:

“This is one of the few modern-day services that is still in desperate need of innovation for both parties. It’s taken us over a year to get to this point, but the wait has been worth it. We’re all genuinely excited about what we’ve created, both for our drivers and customers. VANHEROES will be a real gamechanger for the local community, and we have plans to continue to make our services quicker, safer and more convenient for everyone.

Our drivers (also known as “Heroes”) are all checked by us before being granted access to jobs. It’s hugely important to us that our users feel in safe hands, and for them to know that we’re on-hand to support them. We make sure all vehicles have a valid MOT, Tax and Insurance, and we make sure any drivers signed up for Waste Disposal jobs have the right licenses to do so.

Van Drivers are the backbone of our service, so we make sure they are looked after too.  We run regular meetups to give new drivers an opportunity to meet each other and find out what our service is all about. We don’t charge a membership fee to access jobs on VANHEROES, so it’s a very accessible and flexible way to find work. What’s more, we’re currently working on some exciting partnerships with local companies to bring even more benefits and perks to our drivers. It’s a great time to own a van!
